Resumen

El propósito de este artículo es presentar los resultados de la etapa exploratoria del proyecto de investigación Factores que Afectan la Continuidad de las Empresas Familiares (EF) PyMEs. Con este fin se realizó una extensa revisión literaria, entrevistas no estructuradas a directivos de EF y observación fruto del trabajo profesional. Finalizada la etapa exploratoria del proyecto, se encontró que el factor más estudiado que afecta la continuidad de la EF es el de la sucesión. En general, las investigaciones revisadas tienen limitaciones, siendo la principal que éstas intentan elaborar modelos que expliquen el efecto de ciertos factores sobre la continuidad pero sin probar la relación causal entre variable dependiente e independiente.

Abstract

This article s aim is to present the research project Factors Affecting Small and Medium Family Business s Continuity exploratory stage s results. With this aim in mind a literature review and no estructured interviews were conducted. Besides, data from professional experience was collected. The research team found that succesion was the variable studied most. In general terms, most studies elaborate models which seek to explain a causal relationship between certain factors and continuity but they don’t measure the relationship between independent and dependent variables.
